And now we come to the finale. Sen. Barack Obama will mount a podium at the Invesco Field to tell the 70,000 assembled there that he accepts the Democratic Party's nomination for President. His speech ...

I've been in Los Angeles for six years now (yes, counting the years represents a total fail on a New Year's Resolution), and in that time I honestly believe that I have made almost entirely poor romantic decisions. I mean, six years of almost total fail.I didn't listen to friend's good advice when I was too naive to know better. More recently, I listened to friend's bad advice when I knew myself and the situation better.
Janna Six from the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado shared with us some of the efforts to make the DNC (and The Big Tent) the greenest convention ever. From compostable flatware and smoothie cups to businessmen on bikes and an army of volunteers, the DNC benefited from an array of clever efforts to not just green the conference but to plant seeds for the future. Now to see if the RNC follows... Stay tuned!

Another month, another food recall. What started off as the summer of the salmonella tomato has turned into the summer of the listeria deli meat. It feels like every time we turn around there's another outbreak of some foodborne illness that is out to get us. The latest recall of meat from Maple Leaf Foods involves over 200 products and it feels like it's lasted almost as many days.
The Muse Asylum is in agreement with me on that one.
For this week's DNC, my city is infiltrated with throngs of patriotic die-hards, angry protesters, street performers, law enforcement and LOTS of t-shirt vendors. Beyond the expected red-white-blue banners, balloons and streamers, DNC attendees are expressing their political beliefs in their own way. I tried to stand firm and remain a blank canvas but have caved.
Admittedly before I interviewed Autumn of Pam's House Blend, I remarked that I would need a quick education on the transgender blogosphere.
Autumn delivered that, and much more. See our chat below:
As many of you know, Senator Barak Obama was formally announced as the Democratic Nominee last evening.

Are you hanging out in Denver with nothing to do, a little free time on your hands between buying cowboy hats and eating chili? Okay, okay, maybe there's something going on there that's keeping you from enjoying the city's charms. But check it out, Denver actually has lots to offer if you're there for reasons other than the convention.

Democratic National Convention
With the Democratic National Convention in full swing and Women's Equality Day, marking the 88th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote, celebrated on Aug. 26, women's issues have been a hot topic lately.
Both Hillary and Bill Clinton had inspiring speeches at the Democratic Convention this week. And while they clearly have different speaking styles, their speeches had two things in common -- first, they talked in detail about the problems faced by so many Americans, like little or no health care, sending our children to war and trying to earn a living wage.
It's been a rocking week in Vancouver, and not in a good way -- a series of earthquakes has now culminated in an earthquake registering 6.1 on the Richter Scale this morning:
The temblor's epicenter was located about 95 miles (153 kilometers) west-southwest of Port Hardy, British Columbia, and about 293 miles (472 kilometers) west-northwest of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Well Hallelujah!
From the most unlikely of sources (car parts) the Project Runway designers finally derived real inspiration and went for actual innovation. Last night's episode was the most interesting...and featured the best runway designs...since the season started. who's with me?
