There Is A Solution To Every Problem

Last evening I hosted a special panel conversation on Fear and Faith with my colleagues, Anita Pathik Law, Kathleen Gage, Christine Kloser, KImberly Marooney, and Paula Langguth Ryan. It was an exhilarating call which I will blog more about soon (I’m a bit short on time right now).  To register to receive the recording, click here:

This morning I received my daily email from Neale Donald Walsch and I chuckled. Talk about great synchronicities to what I blogged about on Monday and last night’s call. I love when that happens. Read what came through today from Neale:

*************************************************

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know…

….that there is a solution to every problem.

Nothing is insoluable. Nothing. Do everything that you can to avoid the temptation of thinking that what is facing you now is insurmountable. That is simply not true.

You cannot see the solution, of course, if you are convinced it is not there. So you must have great faith in life.

Do you have great faith in life?

Now would be a good time to show it.

Smile.

Relax.

It’ll all be okay.

Coaching Tip: Become A Possibility Thinker

Published on 17 Nov 2008 at 3:12 pm. 2 Comments.

“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” - Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

When you consider new ideas or change, do you feel an immediate response of resistance or fear?

Do you have the negative habit of looking at all the reasons why something might be too difficult or impossible to achieve so you can say no?

When we look at life through the narrow viewpoint of fear, we can miss seeing possibilities when we are focused on problems and obstacles.

Instead become a possibility thinker.

Consider something in your life that you want that seems out of reach or impossible. Notice all the reasons and excuses for why you believe something can’t happen. Have you collected evidence to back up that conclusion? In other words, are you looking at the past with the expectation that past experiences ALWAYS repeat? So, why bother dreaming, right?

What if what you desire as impossible were really possible? Perhaps some part of what you desire is currently out of reach and there are some things within your grasp that you might be dismissing because you are negating the whole picture. Ask yourself, “What about this is possible?”

Create a list of all the things that might make having what you want…. possible. Add everything and anything you can think of even if it seems far out. Here’s your opportunity to dream and open your mind to imagine the best possible options and solutions coming to you. In that way, you shift from constricted and limited thinking into a more expansive viewpoint where there is more room thing to flow into your life.

Tune into your inner wisdom, intuition, and instincts to follow those inner nudges that you become aware of that might be showing you the way to bring solutions and opportunities to have more of what you want and less of what you don’t want.

I have found that taking the first step opens the door to the next. Continuing forward one step at a time will move you closer to your dreams and desires. Remember to invite the Universe to work out the “how” and continue to show up by taking action.

(I was just nudged to tell you about this report below again!)

Remember the Order Up book I mentioned last year for only $7 that gives you the step-by-step formula to put your request into the Universe to manifest whatever you want? Click here to reserve your copy

Have a great day :D

Do You Have The Courage To Let Go Of Control?

Published on 11 Nov 2008 at 6:02 am. 2 Comments.
Filed under Attraction, Courage Series, Feature Articles, Personal Development Strategies, Spirituality & Inspiration.

“As children bring their broken toys
With tears for us to mend
I brought my broken dreams to God
Because He was my friend
But then instead of leaving Him
In peace to work alone
I hung around and tried to help
In ways that were my own
At last I snatched them back and cried
How could You be so slow?
My child,
He said, What could I do?
You never did let go?” - Anon

In the 12-step program, you’ll find the philosophy of “letting go and letting God”. New thought leaders repeatedly affirm the importance of allowing the “how” of our dreams and desires to be handled by God/The Universe/Higher Power. Our role is to have a clear vision, see it, feel the emotion of joyfully and gratefully having/being what we desire, eliminating the beliefs that block receiving what we want and then letting go of the unfolding of that vision to manifest for our best and highest.

Being the creator of our destiny isn’t a passive state. When we partner with the Universe we are listening to the inner guidance that flows to us in moments of meditation or inspiration to nudge us into action.

Sounds simple right?

So, are you letting go? I mean really letting go, expecting and trusting your dreams and desires to manifest?

You might say, “I’m a control freak. Letting go is very tough for me.”You’ve probably  collected lots of evidence to back up your position - painful past experiences that have taught you that the only way you can stay safe and protect yourself is being in control. And you may have grown up with, ” The only one you can really depend on is YOU. You have to look out for yourself because no one else will.”

Aren’t we supposed to set goals, develop strategies, and take action to  make them happen? Isn’t it up to us to take 100% responsibility for what we do to grow our business, cultivate relationships, raise children, make money….? Don’t we have to do things to have what we want?

Yes and no.

Fear is a powerful energy that can inhibit receiving the full scope of what is possible and we end up with slices of what we dream and desire. It’s like holding up your hand and yelling “stop.” while asking for more at the same time.  Keeping a tight grasp on control may seem to be the answer of holding fear at bay that often results in keeping the people and things we desire at arms length. Our natural state is to connect with others. Fear of loss of control can isolate us from others, creating more pain and loneliness.

It’s a double bind and an illusion.

We can get so caught up in the stories and dramas we imagine that we hold the reins tighter. What we truly control is how we see things and how we respond to what we see. We choose to believe our stories or challenge their authenticity by looking at the facts rather than what our mind is saying as truth. Whatever we give the most attention and juice to is what we will manifest.

There are times that I’m great at standing firmly in faith and trust, tapping into my intuition and instincts to guide my thoughts and actions.  And then there are those times when my reality doesn’t seem to match up with what I desire. It’s easy to step into, “What am I doing wrong? When are things going to get easier? What am I blocking that I need to clear?” Self-judgments, anger, frustration, blame…. Blah, blah, blah.

And then I have this clarity… have I actually let go for the “how” to unfold or am I hanging around putting my 2 cents in?  Am I really allowing what I wish to create or going  through the motions. Do I really know how to let go and let God? Am I coming from love (expansion) or fear (constriction)? Being the powerfull creator that I am, is my life experience a reflection of who I am and what is desired, or the opposite of it?

Hmmm…. lots of nos

So, what needs to shift?

Where I’m placing my attention and shifting from fear to faith

Faith is believing and knowing that all needs, wants, and desires are already fulfilled. That every prayer request has been answered the moment it is asked. Remembering that every soul is part of The Divine and we are here to experience creation. - our creation, both individually and collectively. And learning how to dance with creation so that what we do is in alignment with who we are.

7 things that help me to reconnect with my faith:

1. Meditation - silent or guided

2. Reading something inspirational

3. Feeling gratitude and appreciation for all the gifts and blessing in my life

4. Doing something loving and generous for someone else

5. Connecting with nature and my cats

6. Connecting with one of my close spiritual friends like Anita Pathik Law

7. Stopping, taking some breaths and getting present

This weekend, I began reading Neale Donald Walsch’s “Conversations with God, Book 1″. It’s been around for years and I never read it. In the book, the dialogue includes:

  • Life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation (pg. 20)
  • Praying for something actually pushes it away from us because the request is a statement of lack. The correct prayer is one of gratitude, a thank you in advance in appreciation for all that you wish to experience in your reality. To be truly grateful for something that isn’t there requires faith. (pg. 11)
  • Judgment is an error in thinking and results in pain. Remove the judgment and the pain disappears (pg 37)
  • The first step in changing anything is to know and accept you have chosen it to be what it is (pg 36).  This can be a tough one for folks because it means letting go of blame and taking 100% responsibility for your creation.
  • The process of creation begins with thought. The second level is word and the third level is action. (pg 74). Are your thoughts, words, and action creating what is desired or undesired?

Personally, I’m focusing on cultivating my faith and trust by keeping my attention of love, gratitude, and being of service to others while staying true to ‘Who I am ” as I know myself to be in every moment of every day. And I’m staying open to recognize the subtle and obvious ways my fear comes out as control that causes constriction rather than expansion. All the energy going into needing to be in control is exhausting!

This is my journey of remembering and re-creation. Neale writes, “Feeling is the language of the soul,” and I want to feel it all. That what being alive is!

How about you? Join me?

Coaching Tip: Dancing With Unpredictability

Published on 9 Nov 2008 at 6:54 am. 7 Comments.
Filed under Business Development, Feature Articles, Personal Development Strategies, Spirituality & Inspiration.

Creating a vision, setting goals and having objectives helps people maintain focus so that we use our time and energy effectively to make things happen. When we have a purpose and direction we know where we’re going, what we want, and what we need to do. Even with the best laid plans, things don’t always work out the way we desire and intend. Your server goes down, a check payment doesn’t arrive, an unforeseen illness, a traffic jam, a client is a no-show….

Even positive experiences can require adjustment, sometimes in a moment. An unexpected flow of new clients, a great new job offer or career opportunity, a new love interest… Life…

Test your ability to be flexible and resilient:

How attached are you to things going the way you planned?

How resistant are you to change?

Do you react and struggle against life’s unpredictability by becoming angry or depressed?

Do you view situations that don’t go the way you want as problems and obstacles or possibilities and opportunities?

Do you accept what’s happening and release your original intentions to dance with each moment with curiosity and openness?

The ability to roll with life ’s unpredictability is key to experiencing greater ease and flow in all areas of your life. In fact, if everything stayed the same day in and day out, what would your life be like? Pretty boring, right?

For example: You have a slow-down in your business that is unexpected. Initially you feel upset or worried until you realize that you can work on the book, create that new product or program that you’ve been postponing because you’ve been too busy. What originally felt like a set-back or problem can be seen as a blessing and gift!

The next time life doesn’t “cooperate” with what you want, take a deep breath and remind yourself to be curious and flexible to a new surprise and opportunity that might be coming your way! Say “Thank you” and open you heart and mind to receive what’s next.

PS. I wrote this post several days in advance and scheduled it to post today. Within an hour of finishing this article, I received an email from a colleague saying a program we’ve been preparing  for a specific client to be presented in January may be cancelled due to reorganization in the company. My initial reaction was, “Shoot!” (Not really , it was something else that I won’t write). and then I stopped, took a breath, and got present. “Thank You!”

This may work out just fine  and we do the program or open to something else that is preparing to come through. The prep work we’ve done so far can be repackaged and leveraged in many ways so the time involved was worthwhile. Until we know more, the possibilities are wide open!

Have a great week :D

Are You Informing Your Audience or Inviting Them

Published on 7 Nov 2008 at 7:50 am. No Comments.
Filed under Business Development, Feature Articles, Savvy Marketing Tips.

Submitted by Isabel Parlett

On a recent call, after a demonstration of what I call “the language of connection,” one participant said in amazement “I realize when I write about my business, I am so focused on giving the right information, that I forget that it’s a chance to invite people to be part of what I do.”

When we use the language of information, we give the facts. We essentially say “hey, on this day, at this time, I am offering this class, or my product goes on sale. Here’s what you’ll learn, here’s why you should take it, here’s how much it costs.” Nothing wrong with that, but in focusing on what information will get the response we want, we often forget the most important thing, the chance to connect, the chance to virtually share a moment of shared appreciation for the things that really matter.

When we invite people in real life, we warmly encourage them to join us on our turf, to share an experience we’ve planned and created for them. When we invite, we tempt with the promise of a magical moment. We share our own excitement about what’s to come. Every time we write and talk about our services, we have the potential to truly invite our audience to experience something profound, to reconnect them to themselves, and to expand their horizons and their concept of what is available to them.

But so often we don’t. We forget. That promotional email is something you have to get done, not an opportunity to say something meaningful. You’re racing to get that flyer in before your deadline, not relishing a chance to share what excites you. Your 15-seconds at a networking meeting are 15 seconds of stress, not a chance to turn one more person on to a new way of seeing things.

When we look at why bad words happen to good people, so often it’s that we don’t know there’s another way. We get stuck in familiar patterns of communicating in business, and we lose the spark of sharing something new. Without new guidelines to follow, we lose ourselves in the chaos of the day, and we don’t give ourselves permission to say what we really want. We forget to bring the full power of our thoughts and words to the table.

So, next time you’re up to write or speak about what you offer, remember, your job is to invite people to experience something they’ve never experienced, maybe never imagined, for themselves.

To move back into the energy of inviting:

1. Take a few moments to center your self, your thoughts, your energy. Close your eyes, breathe deep.

2. Now, remind yourself, aside from benefits, copy techniques, or the need to sell, what is it you want people to feel and experience as a result of saying yes to your offer?

3. Move from the facts to the feelings: the emotions, the body sensations, the images.

4. Now, ask yourself, why do you think it matters that people have these feelings, these experiences, this new way of being? How does it change them? Change the world at large?

5. From there, start to write. From that clarity of what you have to offer, start to paint a picture. Feel your heart open as you invite your audience to join you in that picture of what you see is possible.
