I am a forty-seven-year-old woman, mother of two daughters (a tween and a teen). As they have been growing up I have been a stay-at-home mom, worked full-time, worked part-time, and went to graduate school. Before the girls, I had an office job in high-tech, but I ditched the 2 o’clock doldrums for teaching a few years ago, where I get to spend my days with 14-year-olds. I’m originally from New York City, lived in Israel for many years, and then a few years ago the family moved to Northern Virginia. The twenty-year marriage to the man I met, oh, so romatically, on a bus ended when his strong personality became overbearing, and the controlling tendencies became abusive. 

I love words: to hear them, to say them, to exchange them, to write them, to read them, to think about them. I use them to understand my life and to share my life with others (hence the blog). I enjoy finding the lighter side of even the darkest things, and the more I get into this middle-age thing the more I realize that with all the darkness around, I much prefer lemonade to lemons.
