You don't have to gain weight just because it's the holiday season. And Thanksgiving dinner doesn't have to be so fattening. Try making a few changes to your basic Thanksgiving recipes, and see how you can reduce calories and fat, for a healthier dinner.
1. Avoid buying a "self-basting" turkey, most of these are injected with fat and sodium, making them much less healthy. Instead, baste your turkey using it's own juices or broth.
2. Prepare your stuffing outside of the turkey; stuffing cooked inside the turkey will absorb a lot of unwanted fat.
It's only a few weeks away. But it's not too late to make plans that ease the annual journey to stuff ourselves on turkey and pie and then, boomerang back where we came from, wondering why we ate so much. There's plenty of great advice on easing your travels.
In case you think it's too late to get a ticket...

So, how do I process the mountain of information that was BlogHer 08 ? By figuring what I recall without having to dig too deep into my notes. I did a similar conference round-up last year and found it a great way to organize what I had learned in the three information-packed days at BlogHer 08.
One of the best things about finding a good craft blog, whether it's someone using yarn, fabric, paper, tin, or plastic, is seeing the photographs of a person's work. When an item is well-photographed, the hand of the creator can be seen in the work. It's almost like touching the product.
However, taking a great photograph is not the easiest thing to do.
Everyone gets sick. Some of us get sick more often than others, and for many different reasons. Some people get motion sickness every time they take a car ride, others get the dreaded stomach flu, pregnant women suffer with morning sickness, and some get queasy from various medications including chemotherapy treatments.
We don't know everything. I, for one, don't know Jack. I don't even who Jack is. Shows how much I know. And, should my teenager encounter this post in her web surfing, she'll be nodding her head so hard and furiously that she'll whiplash as she taunts - "Yup, that's for sure. Mom doesn't know Jack." Well, good, there's something we can agree on.
