Last year I enrolled both of my children in an after-school gymnastics class at the local Y. My daughter was three and my son was four at the time. I was excited that they would be able to participate in a fun activity together after school and I knew that they would enjoy the class.

Brace for Grace - It's time for courageous optimism

There is a woman on my block who, when asked how she is, will always tell you of her numerous ailments. She will recount the aches and pains of aging like a well-worn litany of discontent. Ask her about politics, and she will tell you exactly what is hopelessly wrong with our government. Ask about weather, and she will either forecast bad times, or recall them. Life, for her, has become a barely-endurable onslaught of negative events. And so, every negative thing that happens in the world confirms her view. She now expects bad news in her life, and is rarely surprised.

Feminism is such a powerful word

Feminism is such powerful word. It can empower, uplift, and transend a woman into a world where she is in control of her own life. I'm not as interested in which type of feminist I am, not do I care what type other feminists are. I can't justify labeling myself as a Radical, Liberal or Socialist feminist. No, I want to be free from labels because we have all been held back by them long enough.  I support and strive for the betterment of all women, of all races, of all abilities, of all ages, and from all classes. We are all equal!
