In a wonderful stroke of serendipity, my school holiday visit to NYC to visit my expat son has coincided with Blogher 08 - and he is going to be there too. He's quite proud to have a bloggin' Mama, and I'm looking forward to exploring two cities with him on my first visit to the US.
Hoping to meet a lot of new friends and be inspired with new ideas.
I've just noticed a pattern - Wednesday is the evening I have time to surf around the blogosphere. I try to post on my own blog at least twice a week, usually Wednesday and then on the weekend. I know how much I enjoy finding new posts from my favourite blogs, so i try to keep things current. Apparently there is a ratio of "lurkers" to "commenters" . I'm getting better at leaving comments, because like presents, I love receiving them too!
Australian bloggers are few and far between. It is still a very misunderstood medium here, but there are signs of change. The major newspapers have blogs for their columnists, using a "if we can't beat them, join them" policy. I have noticed, however, that there is never a positive article written about any form of social media. Strange, when I know of so many people who have connected with like minds via blogging; found old friends via facebook & myspace; and entertained themselves and others via You-tube.
I'm really liking the blogosphere. First recommended to me by my 23 year old son, who "gave" me a blog for Mothers Day last year, now a necessity in my life. I use it to keep in touch with said son, who has relocated from Sydney Australia to New York, USA; I use it to post photographs from my cherished digital camera; I use it to keep in touch with my three blogging sisters here in Oz.
